So, I went to another one of those classes about a month later, and this is my second. Each class focuses on learning another trick, and this taught me to use Frisket masking liquid. You paint this waxy stuff on the trees, paint the background, then remove the Frisket, then paint the trees. It's a really neat process.

The class had a Christmas party where we went to the teacher's house for lunch and painted there. This is the one I started there, then finished just yesterday. Mom's turned out way better, but I still like it enough to bring it out next fall for decor.
I'm still learning, but I'm hooked. I'd venture to say that it's easier than oil painting. (I'll post one of those next Sunday... maybe.)Anyway, this has been a Something to Look at Sunday, which I just may make a habit of. I'll post photos (Italy photos perhaps?!), paintings, crafty things... whatever I'm up to, or thinking about. It's all for your viewing pleasure, because sometimes... it's nice not to have to read.
Goal Tracking:
Writing: still revising
Weight: still no progress other than being stronger and a wee bit more flexible
Reading: crit group readings for Wednesday

Beautiful. Talented. I could never accomplish that
ReplyDeleteOh wow, these are so beautiful! You're amazing.
ReplyDeleteohmygosh! You are so talented!! I wish I could draw like that :D
ReplyDeleteI just asked Maria for an interview and she offered to give away a copy of Poison Study on my blog, so I guess I was lucky!
it's always beautiful when people use art to creatively express themselves. And I love when people take everything in life with a creative eye.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! I should try it out, I always tell myself I am not good at painting or watercoloring but I think it's because of the unknown!
ReplyDeleteY'all are so sweet! Thanks for the encouragement!
ReplyDeleteKirthi - That is so neat! I'll have to be on the lookout for authors who are interested in the powers of the online promotional tools! haha.
Jen - I have a friend that almost gets angry with me sometimes - she thinks I have all these talents and she has none. And I ask her, "Have you tried?" and she says, "Well, no..." If you're interested in something, TRY IT. You just might be really good at it!
Wow, you're a watercolorist too. They look gorgeous...your mom must be a good teacher ;) And I absolutely with the Try It sentiment! Too many people say 'I couldn't do that.' Well, yeah. If you never try it and don't practice..you couldn't ;)
ReplyDeleteVery cool :D
That would be... I absolutely Agree. Must be time for dinner.
ReplyDeleteAlex, I'd like to buy a verb.
These are wonderful! I'll look forward to seeing your future Something-to-Look-At's.
ReplyDeleteThose are all just beautiful!! I love all of them, and they look like you had so much fun painting them too! I love the soft subtle colors you use :) Very nice!
