"As has been said of writing, to write one must always be a little in love. Chocolate triggers endorphins that can make you feel infatuated." - Sheila Bender
Why didn't I think of that?!

Do any of you reach for food for a writing pick-me-up? Sweets? Salt? What's your flavor?
Anything that's not too messy. I do enjoy having a bar of Ritter Sport Alpine Milk chocolate around. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are so bad. I started reading your post and suddenly remembered the chocolate mint meltaways stashed in the cupboard. Stop it! :)
ReplyDeleteSummer - I haven't heard of that!
ReplyDeleteA.L. - Meltaways?! Like, Fannie May meltaways?! And Pixies?! Gosh... I haven't had those since my last trip to Chicago. We don't get those down here, though I have seen individually wrapped Pixies at Walgreens at Christmas time.
I don't, but when I read blog post about food, I find myself curiously hungry.
ReplyDeleteI hear wine works in the same way...?
ReplyDeleteMust try both, perhaps together, though I am unsure of what would result if I did.
A handful of lightly-salted almonds is my brain food. Num...num!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a weirdo - I don't eat chocolate!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I am a salt-o-holic. Give me the salty tort chips or fat-free potato chips. (Fat free is actually saltier than regular.)
I am also a weirdo and I detest chocolate..but my weakness is a giant bowl of chicken fried rice while I write...is that weird? I think thats weird. But then again, I'm kinda weird so thats okay....
ReplyDeleteYou have reminded me to run to the store!!! Latest treat: Rice Krispies
ReplyDeleteTreat I always need: Kazoozles (delicious and easy to eat!!!! Yummy! Craving one now!)
Umm. What if I am not a writer whats my excuse for loving chocolate?
ReplyDeleteRitter Sport is a German chocolate bar that is made of win. There are lots of mixed flavors--my absolute favorite is the chocolate with hazelnuts! Oh man... But the Alpine Chocolate is perfect for holding a piece in my mouth and melting it with coffee. Divine!
ReplyDeleteChocolate........... yum!
ReplyDeleteI can rationalize anything too. It's all "research" to me. : )
Sweets. I have the worst ever sweet tooth. On Monday my boyfriend promised me some Ben and Jerry's Phish Food if I wrote, and even though I fell asleep before I could eat the ice cream, I wrote :)
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe there are people that detest chocolate. Sometimes I wish I were one of them (well, my thighs wish I were). So you chocolate haters miss out on brownies? Chocolate cake? FUDGE?! omg. I'm going to hyperventilate.
ReplyDeleteJen - Kazoozles??
Summer - thanks for the info! yum!
Kim - research! love it!
Ellen - what a great guy you have!!!
I use Coffee!! It has antioxidants, natural antidepressants that last for up to eight hours with every cup, stimulating caffeine and, like dark chocolate and red wine, is good for your heart in moderate amounts.
ReplyDelete:D
I don't eat while I write. I don't know why. Guess I just never thought about it. Like Jess, though, I'm big on coffee. I even have candies by my desk that simulate one cup's worth of caffeine if I ever need them.
ReplyDeleteCheeeeeese! Though I usually don't eat while I write, because then the mouse and keys get all grimy. I tend to fuel up while reading my fav websites, then put the food away and go on a writing binge.
ReplyDeleteChocolate or grapes. I don't know why but grapes help too. Chocolate is my number 1.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.:)
Both, but I eat more when I go for the salty. Right now I'm loving Sweet Chili rice chips.
ReplyDeletemmmm chocolate.
ReplyDeleteI used to keep a jar on my computer desk - it was filled with peanut M&Ms and Dove chocolate. I forgot that i used to do that...
I should find that jar and fill it once again with delicious muse niblets.
Since I've finally got my love of food under control (for the most part) I try not to reward or encourage myself with the best kinds of food (chips, cookies... the good stuff). But I do have comfort drinks that I go to when I need a little push: chocolate milk, soda and juices. Potentially as bad for me as junk food but at least they aren't solid. Haha.
ReplyDeleteYes! I think I write better when I have yummies close by. The trick is not eating too many! :-)
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I need some chocolate. ;) Actually, chocolate is usually what I crave when I'm writing. Interesting.
