The background hills were already done, so I did the green hill, the house, and the trees yesterday. I think I'm happy enough with it to hang it above the piano--the wall is an olive green color, so it should work nicely. I bought another canvas the same size this weekend (hello sale!) which I plan to paint something a little more abstract on for that space above the entertainment center I showed y'all. Thanks for the inspiration! :)
Here's an idea for you artsy/artsy curious types. Got scrapbooking paper?? Make paper art! When I went to Alaska, we found this really cute shop with framed paper art hanging everywhere and my mother in law kept saying, YOU COULD TOTALLY DO THIS! I took lots of mental snapshots and created a piece of my own. Not sure where to hang it yet...
There are some friends of mine who get a little testy that I have so many things I do. But you know what I say to them? If you're interested in something, TRY IT. I'm not a master at anything I do, but I do it because I like it (jack of all trades, master of none--sounds about right).
You never know if you can do something until you try. :)

Wow, I love both pieces. And paper art looks so fun! Think my cat-hair-blanketed apartment can wait another day before it gets cleaned so I can work on some of my on-hold art pieces instead? lol.
ReplyDeleteYou're so talented! I don't have an artistic bone in my body, but these are just beautiful! I love the colors.
ReplyDeleteSeriously Kristin, you are SO TALENTED with this stuff. Both pieces look amazing! Do you sense the jealousy, I can't even do stick figures! (I wish I were joking)
ReplyDeleteWOW! These are really good.
ReplyDeleteThose are awesome Kristin!! They will look great in your home. I was just telling my husband the other day that I wanted to buy a small piece of original art from an artist that I really admire and he said, "Why??" and I said "It would be cool to have some original art," He looked at me all funny for a minute then said, "What do you think is all over our walls?" I guess it's hard to say it's original art when you're the one who created it. :)
ReplyDeleteI've really loved these posts about how you're decorating your home.
These are both so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteWOW. Stuff like that totally blows my mind because I am not creative like that. But I wish I was. :)
ReplyDeletePS. Thanks for the very nice review of my book. That was so sweet. You totally made my week. :)
Wow! They're both beautiful.
